Re-Elect

Linda Chavez

Alum Rock School Board

Experienced leadership. Responsible decisions. A continued commitment to our Alum Rock students and community.

Experienced Leadership

Linda is seeking re-election to the Alum Rock School District Board of Trustees because our students, families, teachers, and neighbors deserve experienced, steady leadership.

For the past eight years, she has had the honor of serving this community on the Board, including the last three years as Board President.

During that time, she has focused on policies that improve instruction, strengthen accountability, and support student success in reading, math and science.

Fiscal Responsibility

Leadership means making responsible decisions, especially when they are difficult. As Board President, Linda reconstituted the Standing Board Budget Committee after it had not met for at least 5 years.

Restoring fiscal oversight was essential. The district faced a serious budget crisis, and although closing six schools was a painful decision, it helped prevent a State takeover and protected the district’s long-term ability to serve students.

Our community deserves leaders who are willing to face hard truths, act responsibly, and put students first.

Deep Community Roots

Linda’s commitment to Alum Rock is personal. She has lived in this community since 1979, raised her family here, and seen firsthand how strong neighborhood schools can shape a child’s future.

She and her husband, a Vietnam Veteran, and have been married for 47 years. Their three sons and one daughter attended Linda Vista Elementary and Joseph George Middle School, went on to earn college degrees, and now enjoy successful careers.

Linda wants every student in Alum Rock to have the same opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

Commitment to Service

As a retired business owner, Linda brings both the time and the experience needed to serve effectively.

She understands budgets, accountability, long-term planning, and the importance of listening before making decisions.

She also brings the perspective of a parent, a taxpayer, and a longtime resident who cares deeply about the future of our schools and our community.
